You are Here, I was There

At 6:30 a.m. I heard the first bikes pull in to hit the trail. Only young people who are more interested in exercise than fireworks are up that early on July 5th. And, yes, they were young, on one hand everyone is young to me, but they were legitimately young. Off they went, and I rolled over to bother Sasha with morning pets.  I got up at my usual time, 8:00, to see the next bunch of hikers pull in and take off. While I was having my second cup of coffee, people my age who had DEFINITELY enjoyed the fireworks were headed out on the trail. A couple that had trecked in to sleep somewhere on the trail returned about 9:00. They looked a little weary but very happy after a night in the mountain air.  About 9:30 I went out to take a picture of the sign, take a little look around and then went back to hit the road. It was fun to see a morning in the life of a trail head.  While I wish I had hiked, as I had planned, I didn't get to Albuquerque until 6:00. Actually I am about 20 miles away, just had to stop. The ride was absolutely beautiful, so different, I enjoyed every minute. NOW for my walk.

  1. Was parking at the trail head a happy coincidence or did you get to pick your spot? After this post, I'd definitely pick it for the people watching as well as the trail.

  2. Just saw this, it was a happy coincidence, especially since it was the Fourth of July! Not only were the people fun to watch, but the view was AWESOME! Check it out.
